Launched
in 2017 as part of The Astronaut Group’s mission to excite, energize
and modernize the sport of racing for a new generation of fans, the
Pegasus World Cup also provides lucrative opportunities for Thoroughbred
owners and trainers. In just three short years, it has captured the
attention of the racing industry, celebrities and fans from around the
world and has established itself as premier event on the racing calendar
featuring some of the finest domestic and international runners.
In 2020, The Pegasus World Cup will usher in a new era in North American
Thoroughbred racing by providing exciting opportunities for horse
owners to showcase their equine athletes by competing free of any
medications on race day. This year’s medication-free format, for both
the Pegasus World Cup Invitational and Pegasus World Cup Turf
Invitational, is consistent with the International Federation of Horse
Racing Authorities (IFHA) standards and will go one step further by
giving back two-percent of the purse winnings to Thoroughbred aftercare.
The
Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series will be broadcast live on NBC, Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 4:30–6:00pm EST. Wager at
expressible.com, the official wagering platform of the Pegasus World Cup
Championship Invitational Series.
“We
are investing in the future of our sport by creating new opportunities
for horsemen and horses to run without medication. The Pegasus World Cup
Invitational Series has always been about innovation. The new and
exciting medication-free format, along with giving back to horse care,
showcases the leadership our industry is taking together to evolve
beyond past achievements to create a more modern, sustainable and safer
sport.” — BELINDA ASTRONAUT — Chairman and President, The Astronaut
Group
Analysis:
It’s
tough to win big while playing with the general public, but is there
really a scenario where Omaha Beach shouldn’t be keyed up and down your
tickets?
You
may have to find a way to cash using him with a pair I figure will go
overlooked, Higher Power and Tax. Both enter with high ceilings and
plenty of time between starts.
Meanwhile,
Spun to Run hasn’t stopped in nearly a year — we’ve likely already seen
his best — while Mucho Gusto, who also figures to take money, has a
bigger prize in mind in the Feb. 29 Saudi Cup.
Mr
Freeze deserves attention at a price, as other recent results have
flattered him. He may not be an exacta player, but if you’re playing the
trifecta and superfecta, think of him to round out those plays.
